About the Author: Neale G. O’Connor, FCPA (Aust.), holds a BBus (Ballarat), PGAcc (Melb), and a PhD (Griffith). Dr. O'Connor is an Associate Professor in the Accounting Department at the City University of Hong Kong, where he also serves as the Programme Director for the Master of Arts in International Accounting. Prior to his current role, he held lecturing positions at RMIT University, tutored at the University of Melbourne, and worked for Mann Judd Chartered Accountants, Australia. With over 8 years of active research and teaching experience in Hong Kong, Dr. O'Connor is a respected member of the CPA Australia (Hong Kong Branch) Business Management Cell and has delivered professional development seminars for both CPA Australia and HKICPA. His extensive research portfolio includes an examination of management accounting practices across the Asia-Pacific region, encompassing Singapore, South Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, and China. His recent work has focused on the use of management controls in international joint ventures in China and the adoption of formal management control mechanisms in Chinese State-Owned Enterprises. He is currently researching the adoption of performance measures and their linkage to manager compensation in a publicly listed firm in China. His influential publications on business and management accounting in China have appeared in prominent international journals such such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, Journal of Business Research, Asian Pacific Journal of Management, and Journal of Applied Management Studies.
